Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a threefold increase in active Covid cases in the last ten days, but patients are recovering at home with no significant symptoms.

Health officials said the number of current Covid cases increased to 262 on Monday, but none were critical. On Sunday, 78 new Covid cases were recorded in Uttar Pradesh, including 38 in Lakhimpur Kheri, where kids and staff from a government residential school were infected. 

To intensify contact tracing and testing, a notice has been sent to healthcare officials in various districts, primarily Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Meerut, Bulandshahr, and Lakhimpur Kheri.

Recently, one fatality from Covid was recorded in Muzaffarnagar. The total number of Covid deaths reported in the state so far is 23,650.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the Covid situation with Team-9 and urged officials to intensify testing. He stated that Covid-dedicated hospitals should be selected in all 75 districts immediately and that all oxygen plants installed last year should be operational. He also urged officials to guarantee that all medical facilities are equipped to handle Covid-19 patients.

He said that all the positive cases had been quarantined; their health and the health of those around them must be monitored. He also said that people should be more careful as Ashtami and Ram Navami are approaching; hence, the risk of spreading is higher.

He went on to say that ventilators should be installed in hospitals and medical schools and that active and paramedical personnel and anesthetists should be deployed as needed. He showed more concern for the elderly, and those suffering from serious illnesses should try to limit their movements in congested regions. They should wear a mask if they go out. Everyone should be made aware of this situation. The public address system should be used to make people aware.
